January 2021 Reflections
The first month of 2021 has officially ended. It feels like time is flying by and while we are still in a pandemic, it’s important to reflect on what has happened and how it’s affected our personal development. That being said, I am very pleased to announce that Monthly Reflections for Masala Motivations will be a consistent fixture among this site.
Relaunching Blog
Relaunching Masala Motivations was filled with a lot of self doubt. It’s been almost four years since I’ve truly written anything. It was the feeling about going back to the drawing board; going back to square one.
The main reason that led me to going back to blogging and writing again stemmed from the pandemic that is currently ongoing. When we’re home and either don’t have/ have restricted access to resources to help keep our mental health in check, it can be hard to to take care of ourselves when we need to in times of crisis. Our world has changed drastically and dramatically. Everyone is adjusting to this “new normal” and the way we process it is different from everyone around us.
I’m slowly starting to realize that it’s okay to start over as long as you try. You’re gonna fail and fall every now and then. You just have to keep getting back up and putting one foot in front of the other.
The goal of Masala Motivations 2.0 is not to promote toxic positivity but to encourage and destigmatize the conversations around mental health. Because MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS.
Relationships
Still single as a Pringle but taking a different approach to dating and relationships. I’ve mentioned this in previous posts, but the most important relationship that we have is with ourselves. Learning to stand up for myself and never losing my sense of self worth. Less ghosting and more honest communication.
When having a conversation with a good friend of mine around dating during a pandemic, I’ve had several reflections on this whole experience thus far. The main realization was that I need to keep my standards where it is and not lower them just because one person isn’t meeting them. This concept can be applied to all aspects of life, not just romantic relationships. Never apologize for who you are and the standards that you hold, not just for yourself but for others too.
There is a quote that I feel sums up how I’ve been feeling about 2021 thus far.
Live Boldly. Push Yourself. Don’t Settle.
